thanks for everyone's comments! It has been a long winter, with record amounts of snow here. (Global warming? snort!)
Annie, the shoots are tulips. I finally regrouped them into one place (maybe a little too close together,from the looks of those shoots). The bunnies do like them, so I am surprised they haven't been nibbled on, yet! We won't see peonies for another month, I'd guess.

Isn't it nice to see signs of life in your garden after a long winter? You certainly got a lot of snow. We had barely 3" all winter. I'm not complaining.

How exciting to find crocuses blooming after looking out at all that snow. I'd feel discouraged. (Yesterday when it hit 95 degrees in Austin, I was wishing some of you northern gardeners would send us some snow, though.)

This month and next month are the best in my Austin garden. And then it gets too hot for anything (including me) to bloom happily.

Muums... I thought when I saw your first picture with all that snow that you wouldn't have any blooms, but YOU DO. Look at those pretty little crocuses. What would we do in the early spring without them?
