sage dressing recipe

Thoughts of the upcoming feast make me think of this yummy, basic stuffing recipe, it is one I got from my Grandma, and have added a few ingredients, too.

Sage Dressing

12 c. dry bread
1/2 c chopped onion
3 c. chopped celery
1/4 - 1/2 lb cooked sausage
chopped mushrooms
chopped walnuts
optional: 1 t. poultry seasoning
2 t. salt
1 t. pepper
chopped parsley
sage to taste, 1 t - 1T?
broth
5 eggs
melted butter

Shred bread into large bowl(sometimes we let it dry out overnight). Beat eggs, add spices and pour over bread. Stir in the rest of the ingredients, except broth and butter, add enough of these to make a sloppy mixture. Stuff in turkey or put in greased casserole dish (9x12, etc) and bake at 350 F for 1/2 hour or so before serving. If you don't like mushrooms, walnuts, butter, don't put them in!
