Found this grisly thing yesterday while I was clearing the veggie garden and getting the yard ready for winter: It is a 'blow' snake, not a rattle snake, thank goodness, and not a very big one at that. Don't know who or what got it's head, maybe one of those big ol' magpies that bully around the neighborhood.
It's headless? Good grief. Can't figure out if finding a snake that is headless is better or worse than fining a live one. I mean, what horrible thing bit it's head off. Watch out!
GACK! Well, really, I find snakes fascinating. I'm no more afraid of them than I am large spiders. My husband, on the other hand, would be vomiting if he came upon that and it were alive.

I think someone may have run it over with the lawn mover; I have found it to be effective when killing snakes. :)
oh, yeah, why didn't I think of that? although this one seems to be the best kind of snake, it was already dead when I found it!

It looks to me like a pine snake! I find many of them! Alive and dead!
