Found this grisly thing yesterday while I was clearing the veggie garden and getting the yard ready for winter:
It is a 'blow' snake, not a rattle snake, thank goodness, and not a very big one at that. Don't know who or what got it's head, maybe one of those big ol' magpies that bully around the neighborhood.

I think someone may have run it over with the lawn mover; I have found it to be effective when killing snakes. :)
oh, yeah, why didn't I think of that? although this one seems to be the best kind of snake, it was already dead when I found it!
It's headless? Good grief. Can't figure out if finding a snake that is headless is better or worse than fining a live one. I mean, what horrible thing bit it's head off. Watch out!
GACK! Well, really, I find snakes fascinating. I'm no more afraid of them than I am large spiders. My husband, on the other hand, would be vomiting if he came upon that and it were alive.
It looks to me like a pine snake! I find many of them! Alive and dead!
