April Rain

The wild sweet rain of April spills
On golden - throated daffodils,
On garden wall and new green bough,
On earth fresh - turned before the plough.
It scrubs the pansy's small shy face
And shines each blade of grass in place
To leave the springtime world aglow,
And lift my heart to walk tiptoe.

A lovely poem for GBMD and another new to me poem. I especially like the last couple of lines :)

Lovely poem!
Here in California in our 3rd "dry" year, we could really hope for some of that lovely April rain! The weatherman says not likely.

"It scrubs the pansy's small shy face"....love that line. I like how the April showers here in the upper midwest wash away what's left of winter.

I am longing for the April rain, as it's currently snowing here. :/

Thanks for posting this. I love the imagery. I hope we actually DO get spring and don't just jump into summer.

Yep, Lynne, I'd have to agree, I would like spring not just the winter-to-summer thing that happened last year.......
