GREEN THUMB SUNDAY- a modest success

This is, of course, sweet potato vine, I grew the dark purply one last year and it never amounted to anything, so everytime I walk by this lovely, lush specimen, I smile. This pic was taken a few weeks ago, the plant has wound itself all the way to the top of the railing by now. Happy GTS, all you gardeners out there!

This is a healthy looking vine. Will it produce sweet potatoes or is this an ornamental plant? Sara from farmingfriends

Where is it now, is it knocking on your door yet asking for a cup of tea?

Seems these beautiful bright green sweet potato vines are doing well everywhere1 Yours is beautiful. I did a verigated one this year and it's no where near that lush.

I was just going to ask you if you grew it from a sweet potato tuber or bought it. I planted out a sprouted sweet potato and it was quite a lovely vine - a deep green colour.

I just bought it, I remember my grandmother used to root them in the house.

I love sweet potato vines! Every September when school started, the teacher would start one, and I love watching it grow over the school year. After seeing this photo, maybe I'll start one for old times sake.
