Green Thumb Sunday, another A. Violet

Well, it is a good thing I have African Violets. They are blooming and blooming as winter ebbs. This is a relatively new one, I am having trouble describing the color - a rich purple w/ white edges.. It is a happy color that I like very much. Happy GTS.

This is a pretty one. I like African violets too, and when I see a new one, I mean one I don't have, in a nursery, I rarely resist the temptation to buy it :-)
Happy GTS to you too.

I starting thinking back to when I kept loads of houseplants, and I don't think I've ever owned an African Violet, and I wonder why. They are very pretty, so it wouldn't have been because I didn't like the look of them. I don't see a lot of them in nurseries here, so that could be the reason. Anyway, yours is a great color. Maybe I'll look for one next time I'm plant shopping.
Happy GTS, Aiyana

African violets are lovely. Strangely, it's one of the plants that I seem to have trouble growing. I don't know if I give them too much love or not enough ... or maybe they don't get enough light in my kind of dark home. Yours is beautiful.

thanks to all for your comments.
Anne and Tricia, I would say that African violets are not hard to grow, you just need to know their requirements, like any other plant- they do best with more light than you'd think- I have two in a south window, and the rest in a west window (which is not really enough light) - and they don't do well if they are overwatered, I water mine about every 10 days, and use a good fertilizer w/ a high middle number to promote blooming. Use room temperature water, not cold water, and they should do great for you!
